ਪੂਜਾ ਵਰਤ ਤਿਲਕ ਇਸਨਾਨਾ
ਪੁੰਨ ਦਾਨ ਬਹੁ ਦੈਨ ॥
ਕਹੂੰ ਨ ਭੀਜੈ ਸੰਜਮ ਸੁਆਮੀ
ਬੋਲਹਿ ਮੀਠੇ ਬੈਨ ॥੧॥
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜੀ ਕੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਮਨ ਚੈਨ ॥
ਬਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰ ਖੋਜਹਿ ਸਭਿ ਤਾ ਕਉ
ਬਿਖਮੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ਲੈਨ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਜਾਪ ਤਾਪ ਭ੍ਰਮਨ ਬਸੁਧਾ ਕਰਿ
ਉਰਧ ਤਾਪ ਲੈ ਗੈਨ ॥
ਇਹ ਬਿਧਿ ਨਹ ਪਤੀਆਨੋ ਠਾਕੁਰ
ਜੋਗ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਕਰਿ ਜੈਨ ॥੨॥
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਰਮੋਲਕੁ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ
ਤਿਨਿ ਪਾਇਓ ਜਿਸੁ ਕਿਰਪੈਨ ॥
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭੇਟੇ

ਧਨਾਸਰੀ ਪੰਜਵੀਂ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹੀ।
(ਕਰਮ-ਕਾਂਡ ਤੇ ਵਿਖਾਵੇ ਦੀ ਬਿਰਤੀ ਅਧੀਨ ਕੀਤੀ) ਉਪਾਸ਼ਨਾਂ, ਉਪਹਾਸ, ਟਿੱਕਾ, ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ, ਬਹੁਤੀ ਖੈਰਾਤ ਤੇ ਸਖਾਵਤ ਦਾ ਦੇਣਾ,
ਸਵੈ-ਰਿਆਜ਼ਤ ਅਤੇ ਮਿੱਠੇ ਬਚਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਉਚਾਰਨ, ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਨਾਲ ਭੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ।
ਮਾਣਨੀਯ ਮਾਲਕ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ, ਆਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਠੰਢ-ਚੈਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਤਰੀਕਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਰੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਭਾਲਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪ੍ਰੰਤੂ ਖੋਜ ਭਾਲ ਔਖੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਲੱਭਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ। ਠਹਿਰਾਓ।
ਦਿਖਾਵੇਦਾ ਪਾਠ, ਕਰੜੀ ਘਾਲ, ਧਰਤੀ ਉਤੇ ਰਟਨ ਕਰਨਾਂ, ਮੂਧੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਤਪੱਸਿਆ ਦੀ ਲਗਨ,
ਅਤੇ ਜੋਗੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਜੈਨੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਮਾਰਗ ਦੀ ਪੈਰਵੀ, ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਤਰੀਕਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ।
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਕੀਰਤੀ ਅਮੋਲਕ ਹਨ। ਕੇਵਲ ਓਹੀ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਉਤੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਰਹਿਮਤ ਧਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ, ਗੋਲੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਦੀ ਦਾਤ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਊਸ ਦੀ ਜੀਵਨ-ਰਾਤ ਆਰਾਮ ਅੰਦਰ ਬੀਤਦੀ ਹੈ। |

Dhanaasaree, Fifth Mehl:
Worship, fasting, ceremonial marks on one's forehead, cleansing baths, generous donations to charities and self-mortification
- the Lord Master is not pleased with any of these rituals, no matter how sweetly one may speak. ||1||
Chanting the Name of God, the mind is soothed and pacified.
Everyone searches for Him in different ways, but the search is so difficult, and He cannot be found. ||1||Pause||
Chanting, deep meditation and penance, wandering over the face of the earth, the performance of austerities with the arms stretched up to the sky
- the Lord is not pleased by any of these means, though one may follow the path of Yogis and Jains. ||2||
The Ambrosial Naam, the Name of the Lord, and the Praises of the Lord are priceless; he alone obtains them, whom the Lord blesses with His Mercy.
Joining the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, Nanak lives in the Love of God; his life-night passes in peace. ||3||13|| |
